Description
Solventum (Formerly 3M) ADAPTIC Non-Adhering Dressing
3M Health Care is now Solventum. The same products you know and trust, now under a new brand.
ADAPTIC™ is a primary wound contact layer made of knitted cellulose acetate with a woven mesh structure impregnated with petrolatum emulsion, allowing easy removal whilst minimizing pain at dressing changes. Its specialty is absorbing fluid into a secondary dressing, reducing the risk of exudate pooling and maceration.
What is ADAPTIC Gauze?
ADAPTIC Non-Adhering Dressing is a primary dressing made of knitted cellulose acetate mesh, impregnated with a specially formulated petrolatum emulsion. This unique ADAPTIC gauze is designed to minimize pain and maceration in a wound while providing secure protection. Being completely cuttable, you have the ability to personally size your own dressing without fear of unraveling or shredding.
ADAPTIC Non-Adhering dressing can be used with compression therapy techniques under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
Uses
ADAPTIC Dressing is indicated for dry to highly exuding wounds when it is important to prevent the adherence of the dressing.
ADAPTIC Dressing can be used for a wide range of wound types:
- First- and second-degree burns
- Abrasions
- Grafts
- Venous ulcers
- Pressure injuries
- Nail extractions
- Eczema
- Staples
- Surgical incisions
- Lacerations

How to Use Solventum (Formerly 3M)™ ADAPTIC™ Non-Adhering Dressing
- Select a size of ADAPTIC dressing that is larger than the wound.
- Prepare the wound according to your wound management protocol. Ensure the skin surrounding the wound is dry.
- If needed, cut the dressing with sterile scissors to the size of the wound.
- Place ADAPTIC directly over the wound using surgical tongs or forceps. Smooth into place around the wound.
- If more than one dressing is required, ensure the dressings overlap to avoid the secondary dressing adhering to the wound. Overlap should be minimized to prevent occlusion of holes.
- Cover ADAPTIC dressing with a secondary dressing. Choose your secondary dressing based on the level of exudate. Apply a secondary cover or retention/compression bandage.
- Dressing change frequency is dictated by good wound care practice and will depend on the condition of the wound. ADAPTIC Non-Adhering Dressing may be left in place for several days depending on the amount of exudate.
